Department of Music

Established in 1999, the Department of Music offers a B.A. Programme in Instrumental Music with a balanced focus on performance, theory, and practical training. The department provides a supportive learning environment for students from diverse musical backgrounds, including beginners.

The department has a well-equipped music laboratory with instruments such as sitar, tabla, and harmonium, and is supported by experienced faculty members and a tabla Accompanist. Individual attention and structured teaching help students develop their musical skills.

Through its music society, Swar Saptak Sangeet, the department regularly organizes concerts, workshops, and lecture-demonstrations. In collaboration with SPIC MACAY, the department has hosted renowned artists such as Padma Shri Malini Awasthi and Padma Shri Vidushi Madhavi Mudgal, providing students with valuable exposure to Indian classical traditions.

The Department of Music is committed to teaching, cultural engagement, and academic growth, and aspires to evolve as a Centre of Excellence in Performing Arts.
